Do we go to heaven when we die according to scripture?

Do we go to heaven when we die according to scripture?

This topic is extremely sensitive to most and I know the findings will upset some, so if this initially hurts you I am truly sorry. That is never my intention. But the truth is Absolutely Beautiful REALLY. It may not be as you may have thought but Gods plan is even more Amazing!! Lets refer to scripture :)

Starting with the the story of Job,  the subject of  human suffering and trust in God Almighty is addressed so of course the subject of death is also addressed throughout this book.  It states very plainly that man will lay asleep and not be raised until the end of time. Job 14:12 states that "So man lieth down, and riseth not:till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep."

In the book of Psalms 13:3, the book following Job,  it also refers to death as sleep... "Consider and hear me O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death"

Jesus makes numerous references to people in a state of sleeping. Lazarus death is one example.  As seen in John 11:11-15 "These things said he: and after that he saith unto them. 'Our friend Lazarus sleepeth: but I go, that I may awaken him out of sleep.' Then said his disciples, Lord if he sleep, he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death; but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, 'Lazarus is dead.'  This scripture clarifies that when he is referring to death the term frequently used is Sleep. He separates the meaning of "sleeping in rest" or "sleeping in death" in this scripture to make sure we understand his meaning.

Scripture states that the dead lie in their graves John 5:28-29"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." This scripture makes it clear that the dead are in their graves to be raised at a later date or "shall come forth" upon hearing His voice in the hour coming.

1Thessalonians 4:16-18 States that the dead in Christ will rise first. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel, and even with the Trump of God ; and the dead in Christ shall rise first" If they are already in heaven ...we have to ask ourselves then who are these people he is raising?

Jesus himself says in the bible that no one is in heaven except God, himself and the angels. John 3:13 "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven" However we know the story of Enoch and Elijah as well. The biblical scripture says that Genesis 5:25 "Enoch walked with God and he was not; for God took him"  and in 2Kings 2:11"And when it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked and that, behold there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind  into heaven." The distinct difference in these scriptures is that both of these people were taken WITHOUT DYING first. This could be that they both have a specific purpose in the end times. A common belief is that they may return as the two witnesses as seen in Malachi 4:5-6 "Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." There is no scripture that says that we go to heaven when we die.

Everyone is at the judgement Ecclessiastis 11:9 and 2Corinthians "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." If people in heaven right now then they were permitted entrance without receiving any judgement and that would contradict the bible? The bible does not say that.

Just a little more on what happens when we die. The truth is wonderful!! To think that our loved ones are in heaven waiting for all their loved ones they left behind, implies that they would still feel sadness and pain  and would actually be just as traumatic as for the people left down waiting for them. That wouldn't be heaven.  To know the truth of our loved ones lying asleep with no thoughts and not even aware they are asleep, actually to be awakened on the day that Christ returns, is much more appealing and is the truth as shown in scripture. Think about it just for a second...To be awakened as if a simple blink of an eye had passed and be able to see Jesus on the day you awaken.....would be AMAZING!!!

More biblical scripture The dead can't dream , they cant think or remember  Psalms 146:4 "his breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish", they cant give thanks Psalms 6:5 "For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks" and they dont take part in this world after death Isaiah 38:18-19"For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth."

Even though the truth is not exactly as we thought, it is the truth and he wanted us to know these things or they wouldn't be scripture. Our loved ones are well taken care of and God has it all under control. God wouldnt want us to worry. We will see them again and if they accepted Christ they will live eternally with us as God promised and that will be amazing for everyone ETERNALLY.

  1. Well this be true or not I will believe all animals go immediatley to heaven as they are pure souls /love an that people go to heaven as god is all forgiving. It says when christ returns to earth who are we to say when that happens for all anyone knows he could return on a regular basis in a form we don't recognize to take people home or do an act of kindness an love. It is not for us to judge. Justvknow
that when people or animals we love die they're
suffering is over an they end up in much better
place if that's what people whom are left behind when a loved one passes who are we to pass judgement on how they think /believe in order to get thru the grief

    1. I personally have not read for myself what happens to animals when they die as my family and I discuss this up all the time:) I dont disagree that Christ sends angels to help us out and that he comes down to show himself to people all the time however in order to not throw our own interpretations in, scripture specifically states that there is only ONE day that WILL happen in the future where he will gather all his believers -FIRST The Dead in Christ will rise first and then the remaining. It would then be deceitful to believe other than what he has told us regardless of how we want to think or feel about it. He tells us there is no one in heaven right now other than Jesus and the angels so to add to that would then effectively be false teaching. Satan has been very good at deceiving people into thinking our relatives are sitting in heaven in order to further the other lie that we can speak to ghosts of our dead loved ones, scripture says that isnt true. Its part of why I started this blog. There are many things that I believed or was told and through research I have found out are either nothing like I was taught in church or are not in there at all! We have been told numerous lies of what the Bible holds and what the true messages are. When looking at scripture and the truth of what happened in the past, what we have to look forward to and how we are to truly live according to Gods standards there is no room for personal interpretation or what we `think` Personal interpretation is what has perpetuated the lies and allowed Satan to create all these religions to sway people from the truth.

  2. You forget the thief on the cross to whom Christ said, "Today you shall be with me in paradise" not, "today you'll die and go to sleep and we'll meet again at the judgement"

  3. Also please explain Revelation 6
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Here we have dead Christians IN HEAVEN BEFORE THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT PLEADING TO GOD FACE TO FACE.... Not asleep in the grave

  4. Ok to explain your question as to the two thieves beside him, it is simple the translation you are reading has been corrupted intentionally to change the meaning of the scripture to instill doubt in the reader and cause confusion. The correct and original version says has a comma after today....now reread the scripture again pausing at Today and then a new idea starting the rest of the sentence. God makes it very clear that we dont think sleep dream etc when we die and that after we die our very next thought will be waking for judgement day or the 1000 years depending whether you were a follower or not. No one is even aware they are dead...which again is graceful. The next time you wake up either way you will see Jesus as one of your first visuals Thats amazing! And the Great Throne Judgement has not happened yet. This scripture is referring to future events that will happen in the end days. This is Judgement day I was speaking of and there is only one. Does it make sense to you that people get a trial run in heaven before they are judged? And then tossed out if they dont make the cut on judgement day? People need to read what God says rather than just believe what others tell them God bless on your journey
