Anger and the Bible

What does the bible say about Anger?

The world wants to be able to sin peacefully and is uneasy with anyone who will not conform to its selfish disregard but we must remember that our limits are endless when we are pliable in Gods hands and surrender to HIS will.

All sins are created equal in the eyes of the Lord as they are simply disobedience and yes sad to say, Anger is one of those sins make no mistake.

Although we all get angry from time to time, He warns us of anger in Psalms 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

The Lord calls us to be merciful, to overlook the sins of others, not to take revenge and to treat others with respect and love.

Galatians 5:13-26 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
It discusses facing the real issues of your anger. Do you want to live out Gods plan of love in your  life? than we absolutely must remove anger from our lives!

Mans anger does not bring out the righteousness that God desires.James 1:19-20Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

The Bible teaches us to deal with our anger and to hold your tongue unless it is to help.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. It Says simply do not let unwholesome talk come out of your mouth unless it is to build someone up.

God doesn't want us to act emotionally we should respond with gentleness and wisdom
Proverbs 12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Proverbs 29:11  A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
Psalms 5:9  For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue and Psalms 140:3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah."

Poisonous speech is characteristic of every person who is a descendant of Adam and Eve and that's all of us! But we are to restrain ourselves and to have self control.
2Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,"

2Cor 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

God  tells us to break the stronghold of anger. Proverbs 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Cor 13:4-5 "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
We are to replace our anger with acts of kindness

Ephesians 4:31 talks about further when it reminds us "to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander, along with every form of malice"

Romans 12:19 Reminds us not to take revenge. Even though there will be days that we struggle we are to have faith. "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

The Bible does however believe in Righteous anger. Jesus had righteous anger; anger which is actually in defense of someone other than yourself. When Jesus went into the temple and upset the tables he was angry no doubt about it but it was a righteous anger. They were dishonouring the Lord in his house of worship.

Unresolved anger however will not be tolerated  Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:God and Jesus want us....scratch that...expect us to Deal with our anger daily so it does not fester!  Do not go to bed angry at a spouse, a child, a friend an enemy or a loved one.

Hope you enjoyed.

The Difference between Religion and Really Trusting and knowing Jesus is this...."Religion is mans attempt to reach God. Jesus is Gods attempt to reach man"
