OK so now I'm a Believer ...How do we ACTUALLY HONOUR the Sabbath

Genesis 2:2-3 says He Rested, Blessed and Sanctified the 7TH DAY "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."

Ok so now that we have confirmed in past blogs that Sabbath is Friday sundown to Saturday sundown, that the 10 commandments were never stopped or changed and that we are to REMEMBER to HONOUR this Holy day, how do we do that exactly? When my family and I first started to honour the Sabbath we were totally unsure as to what to do and we looked at it the wrong way. We were looking it in such a way that  it was the day we "couldnt" do something rather than the true blessing that it is. Lets take a look what scripture says on this topic.

Sabbath is a day of delight. Its a day that is meant to give Quality Time of yourself.
Quality time to God, Quality time to your family and neighbours, Quality time for Charity.

The true purpose of the Sabbath is to build a personal relationship with God and that is why Satan hates the Sabbath. Acts 13:44 "And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God."

Its a day for studying the word.  Jesus lead by example in Luke 4:16 "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read."

It is a day for Worship and Prayer.... Yes you should definitely be praying every day absolutely but Sabbath is a day for EXTRA PRAYER  :):) Find a place in nature where you and your family can have prayer if would rather be outdoors and active. The plan of salvation includes building your relationship with God and actually getting to know HIM.

No work on Sabbath. This is a day for the Lord.... not a day to do work. Exodus 20:10 "But the seventh day is the  sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates" This one is hard in todays age as Saturday is one of the most lucrative days of the week in the business world; but we are not to do it.  Forget the roof repair, tire change or lawn maintenance.  There are 6 other days for that.

It's a day to go out and do GOOD for others. This is a great opportunity to do what Jesus expects of us. We are to serve others when you are truly following Christs ways and Sabbath is a perfect day to share Gods love and compassion with others. Help out at a food bank, volunteer at an old age home, organize a community event to build relations with neighbours.

It is a day we are to refrain from your own pleasures on Sabbath. The day is supposed to be focused on your relationship with God and the biblical way to live.  Turn off your cellphone. Give God 24 full hours with no distractions from facebook, internet, games etc.  If we can't go one day without technology and distraction what else does that say about us?

WE MUST BE CONSISTENT IN OUR OBEDIENCE FOR GOD Revelation 14:9-13 shows a comparison of those who keep the commandments of God with those who worship the beast.

Of course evil wants us to disobey God. Satan doesn't care which commandment you break as long as he can get you to break one of them.  That is why is there is so much confusion in the area of the true day of the weekly Sabbath.
Daniel 7:25 mentions changing times and laws and as shown in a previous blog discusses how the laws will be changed to force us to break one of Gods laws.  We may well see in the future a day where businesses are forced to close for mandated worship.

There are days, trust me I know that you may want to break Sabbath for your own personal reasons but we are to obey because it is Gods command. Its that simple. Unless it is an emergency or a real reason for breaking the law we are to keep the sabbath.  He has given us very few rules that when you take the time to look at obviously would make this world a much better place to live if everyone obeyed by them.
Everything he has done has been for our good. We need to Fully Trust Him and enjoy the blessings he has given us. The Sabbath day is one of those blessings!!
